The Staff at Strawberry Patch Children’s Centre have undergone criminal record checks and hold valid First Aid and CPR certificates. Our Daycare teachers also hold a diploma in Early Childhood Education (ECE).
Connie Vicars – Owner / Manager
Several years back, we recognized the need for care in our area. I was able to renovate a building on my property and create a space that was just for children! I went back to school and received my ECE so I would be able to run a licensed facility. Since then we have become very established in the area, expanding now into two classrooms at Peterson Road Elementary and one at North Otter Elementary, and now not using the original location. As the owner of Strawberry Patch, I look after all the administrative details, assisting all my staff at each location as needed, and meeting with new families as they search for somewhere for their child to learn and grow.
My husband and I moved to Langley in 1994. We have two boys that are now grown adults. They both attended Peterson Road Elementary and DW Poppy. As a family, we enjoy the outdoors and camping is always on the list of things to do. I also enjoy (when I get a chance) to sit down with a good book, cross stitch, and being with friends.
Myself along with my staff are always available to answer any questions you may have – give us a call!
Liz Alderson – Daycare (Manager – North Otter)
Hello! My name is Elizabeth but everyone calls me Liz. I was born in Vancouver and moved to Portugal when I was 8 years old. I returned to Canada in 1991. Yes! I do speak fluent Portuguese and a little Spanish too.
I’m an Early Childhood Educator and have always loved being around children. When I returned from Portugal I had a daytime job, but I knew it wasn’t the career I wanted. Babysitting always made me happy, my cousins and family friends would always ask if I could take care of their children. Over the years I would think about it a lot and that’s when I became an Early Childhood Educator.
I have been working as an Early Childhood Educator since 2004. I have worked in preschool settings, assisted Montessori preschools and daycares.
I have been working at Strawberry Patch since November 2006 and I love it. It makes me happy and fulfills my heart knowing that at the end of the day I have cared, loved and nurtured these children and helped out their families doing what I consider is one of the most important jobs in the world.
In my spare time I like to read, do scrapbooking and watch movies.
